The proceeds collected by Castlebar Credit Union help fund work to support families with children who have life-limiting conditions. The hospice home care service for children will allow seriously ill children to be cared for and to die at home rather than in a busy hospital.

Applicants sought for Brendan Hopkins scholarships at GMIT

Brendan Hopkins, who was a director of Castlebar Credit Union for 18 years, died tragically in a car accident in 2002. As a mark of appreciation of his dedicated work and in order to perpetuate his memory, the board of directors approached his family and GMIT Castlebar with a view to setting up a scholarship scheme.

Ireland’s largest one day charity dress sale comes to Castlebar

Buy My Dress, Ireland’s largest one day charity dress sale, is coming to Castlebar for the first time on Saturday May 28. Supported by Kellogg’s Special K, this fashion forward campaign has Irish women all over the country throwing open their closets and donating dresses to Down Syndrome Centre. This local event, which is one of eight happening around the country, will be held in TF Royal Hotel and Theatre, Old Westport Road from 10am to 6pm.
